Comfortable pillow but too firmThe pillow is ok. It’s firmer than I wanted but has decent support. It is the right height, but when you put your head on it there is no sink at all. It bounces back after you press it, it is quality, but too hard for me.Update: As I waited a few days for another pillow to come in, this pillow apparently got softer as time went on. I wasn't looking for real soft, just something that sinks a little when you lay your head on it. At first it didnt, but after several days it did soften up. So I will keep this one instead of returning it.I bought one of these from Walmart a long time ago and me and my husband fight over it. This is not the same but supportive and sturdy. I’m sure we can break them in eventually.I have degenerative disks in my neck. I've had this pillow for about a week now and so far it's very comfortable and supportive. I'm glad I made the purchase!I didn't rate the softness very high because it's soft but firm. I believe too much softness equates with mushiness, and this pillow is NOT mushy. I'm still breaking it in but the past several nights have been the most restful nights sleep I've had in a LONG time. I'm a side sleeper and the last pillow I purchased was a Sleep Number Varicool Standard pillow which not only was WAAAAY overpriced but didn't have NEARLY the support this pillow does. I sleep with a full mask CPAP and needed a pillow that didn't allow my head to sink all the way down to the mattress! That kinda fit the bill at first but after two years it really flattened out and turned mushy. Well, like most memory foam pillows, they only have a lifespan of a couple of years, however, at $30 bucks for the PharMeDoc, it's more reasonable to replace it that often. The Sleep Number version cost well over $150 at the time (not sure the price now) but sheez! I could've bought 4 PharMeDocs for the price of ONE of these! FOUR!!!!! And it's got more height and firmness right off the bat than the Sleep number pillow did, so I have a good feeling about this one! Before deciding to try this one, I read an article on SFGate that Consumer Reports studies show that higher priced memory-foam pillows may be highly overrated, and to try a more inexpensive one. Well I'm glad I did because they were right! I cannot be more happy with this. I thought, man, some of these companies sure are charging an arm and a leg for just a wad of freaking FOAM. How much can this material cost to manufacture anyway???Remember, memory-foam pillows tend to run hotter than regular non-foam pillows so if you don't choose this one, at least make sure you get the cooling gel infused type (like this one). And for goodness sakes, USE A NORMAL COTTON PILLOW CASE!This pillow is everything! The right amount of support and the perfect amount of coolingThis is wonderful for hot flashes! If I could give it 3.5 stars, I would. It’s good value and is pretty comfortable. However, after a few weeks it still has that very distinctive memory foam smell. It’s not as bad as at first, but it’s still there and still noticeable. My sense of smell is very sensitive, but I suspect that most people will still be able to get the smell of it after a few weeks. It’s not at all subtle. But I guess that’s a problem with the vast majority of memory foam products. Just be wary of reviews that state there is no smell at all after a little while - that’s nonsense.Other than that, it is pretty good value and the support is good. Cooling pad is a nice touch - it only works for about 15/20 mins but is a bonus during summer months.Although this is a good orthaopedic conour pillow, that supports your neck/head very well, it is completely ruined by it's main 'selling point' (the Cooling Gel) ~ I feel silly now, as it was this that caught my eye & why I bought it!In the heat of summer, I can't remember noticing any sense of colling & actually quite the opposite ~ because your head is on a sheet of plastic, it becomes very sweaty & uncomfortable. This leads to is having that damp washing smell. In winter, when you first lay your head down, it is SO cold it almost gives you a headache!!! Also the outer cover is near impossible to refit & the zip split, when trying to!!All round a complete fail ~ do not be fooled by the hype!I like this pillow, it's the one that's given me most support for cervical spondylitis. Cooling pad is good for a while, it does work but as all of them it warms up to body temp after a while but keeps me cool enough until I fall asleep. If not I just turn it round and use a different spot. Very happy.I liked the pillow it's soft enough and as memory foam works as it's supposed to.There are some faults tho. The pillow is not high enough so when your head goes down the memory foam it can do down too much, but I found putting another normal pillow either underneath or on top helps. Also another factor is the smell. It lingers for a few weeks, but again a normal pillow on top helps with that. The gel on top is really good and stay cool for about 10 min only.Arrived on time with no issues. Have used for three nights and found it Supportive and comfortable. Unable to say whether it remains cool throughout the night as have fallen asleep quickly each night and haven’t woken up through the night.
