Bought this for my cat since I don’t have AC and my apartment gets quite hot during the day. She won’t even consider stepping foot on it and when I place her ON it, she jumps off. I used it once to cool my feet but just once. Wanted to return but missed the window. Cats…..I ordered the medium chill mat for our 18lb. dog, it just fits him. He of course loves it. We have had several of this type of mats and they tend to hold up well. I don’t like how expensive this one was since I purchased my past ones at the 99€ store for only $5.99. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to find them again this year there.not as cool as i expected, well made. For the most part this product is pretty good. Couple of concerns were how long it seemed totake to start cooling down once our cat lay down on it. Also expected it to get a little coolerthan it did. But it did seem to give our cat, Lola, some relief during our "heat wave," which isn'tover yetI purchased several pads during heat wave and thus was the only one I would recommend. I purchased a second to be able to rotate them. I freeze them and place under a towel in cats Bed. It was the only pad she liked. They are well made and clean up easily.Yes, the headline is correct. I bought this without properly reading the measurements. It was meant for my dog, who is a largish medium sized dog, or a smallish large dog, depending on how you look at it. Then this arrived and I had to laugh because it's pretty small. Small enough to fit inside a standard pillow case. So clearly it wouldn't work for my dog. But during the summer months, I often am turning my pillow over repeatedly at night because I wake up all sweaty. I put this cooling pad into my pillow case and it provides a cooling relief. Eventually the pad will lose its coolness, but it still is a big help.My dog didn't immediately take to this. I had to put her on it. It also seems quite small to me for the price. I ordered a medium but it looks like a small. My small dog barely fits on it. I guess it helps, but not really sure. My dog doesn't automatically lay on it. I have to put her on it.If you live where it gets hot, this mat is highly recommended. This squishy mat is much more comfy for an old dog than cooling off on the kitchen tile, and it can be moved anywhere you want to give your dog a bit of cooling comfort.Summer of 2013, I bought the large mat for my 30lb, 11yo, diabetic spaniel setter mix. We needed something to help keep her comfortable/cool while in the bedroom at night. She has gotten older, and it seemed after getting diabetes, she has become more sensitive to the heat. My dog liked this mat from the get-go, and laid down on it the moment I unwrapped it and set it on the floor. If it is in the room where we are, like the bedroom or the living room, then that is pretty much the only place she will lay. Please note, the large 20x36 mat is the perfect size to allow my medium-sized dog to stretch out fully on her side or tummy. Getting a larger size means there is more cooling surface, which I consider a plus worth the additional cost.PROS:-Can be popped in the freezer to get super-chilled (my dog *loves* it when I do this and rushes over to lay on the mat when I set it down for her). I definitely recommend this for a fast cooling--- just don't leave it in there for a long time and freeze it into a brick of ice. Treat it more like a beer you pop in the freezer to chill fast, but remove before it solidifies. Think 15 minutes and done. On a scalding summer day this gets the mat back to your dog ASAP. This little extra bit of attention and effort is worth it to me to help keep my dog cool.-Comfortable, soft and squishy under the dog's joints (especially when compared to tile they lay on when they are hot and don't have this mat). This is good for any dog, but great for older dogs.-Wipes clean easily, good for dog messes like dirt, hair and potty accidents. Mine has endured them all.-Light and portable, just fold it up and it can travel or just be moved around the house where it is most useful-Durable! (Disclaimer: No, my dog doesn't chew on things that aren't chew toys. I guess I am lucky.) This mat is still going strong, and still has only the slightest of fraying at the edges. It still cleans easily, which is good because my diabetic dog occasionally "leaks" a bit when sleeping at night. It has traveled well cross country, been in her travel space and at hotels, which provided her a lot of physical and emotional comfort. The mat has not leaked after heavy use over a long, hot summer and fall; nor has the mat leaked after a lot of travel.CONS:-Not really a con, but... Be super careful if YOU step on it. It doesn't cause any traction issues for the dog, but I nearly slipped once while navigating on it in a tight area. The gel filling makes this an unstable surface for us humans to step on, without extreme caution.Bottom line on 04/04/14:I will update again after this next summer's use, but for the comfort it has offered my dog and for how long it has lasted so far--- it was well worth the 29.99 I spent on it and I will get another one if/when this one "dies". Again, I highly recommend this item to help cool dogs when it's hot out, especially if there are medically-related concerns for doing so. Hope this review and update helps. Best of luck, fellow dog-lovers! :-)Update 12/05/2015:Our mat had been put in storage since it was no longer hot, but we found that with the heater on sometimes our doggie still wanted her cool mat. I retrieved the mat but found it had finally sprung a leak. It wasn't bad, but I wasn't going to use it. I threw it away, bought a new one and the MINUTE I laid the mat down where my dog tends to rest, she wagged her tail, sidled on top of it and plopped down for a nap. So, these mats don't last forever, but what does? I will continue to buy these mats as they make my dog comfortable and last a reasonable amount of time for the cost and how much use we get out of them. It's worth it to me, and for her! :-) Hope this helps!I didn't check the messurements and it was much smaller then it looked in the picture. idk the breed of dog on it but I thought it was a larger breed then it must be. other then that it is a great cooling tool. I will be getting the large or extra large version.I thought it was bigger than what it really was. My dog only laid on it once. Hopefully when weather gets warmer she will use it more. ..Our pup loves it.
